Reference designs for a new jetty have been obtained from marine engineers M P Rogers & Associates. There are three design concepts, consisting of new jetties of different widths and lengths. Funding assistance was provided by the City of Port Phillip.
A full site investigation was undertaken and all safety issues considered. Cost estimates vary from approximately $1.0m to $1.9m. All designs feature a west facing platform for viewing the sunset. Brookes jetty is the nearest place to Melbourne were the sunset can be viewed over water all year round.

Prior to obtaining the MRA report, a Feasibility Risk Assessment Report, regarding safety concerns, was obtained from Pitcher Environmental Management. This report concluded that no risk could be identified which would indicate that reconstruction of a similar jetty to the original Brooke’s Jetty would present an unacceptable risk.
