Sunset at the Jetty

The location is popular for viewing and photographing the sunset, even in winter. In June, from the drain outfall, the sunset can be slightly obscured by St Kilda pier. This is not the case from the jetty, where clear views are obtained.

In the winter the distance over water to Port Melbourne is about 5km and the land visible on the horizon is quite small. In spring and autumn, the sun sets further south and the extent of the water is about 12 km. In the summer, the sea stretches all the way to the horizon.
